The world was first blessed with a Nike Air Jordan Basketball sneaker in 1985 with the release of the Air Jordan I. Although the Nike Air Jordan deal was endorsed in 1984, it did not make it's debut until the following year. Air Jordan sneakers never went out of style, they only grew with Micheal Jordan's fame.
Nike Air Jordan Basketball sneakers owned their style and could be seen on almost every persons feet all year round. Jordan, who became the most popular Nike endorsement, had pleased the world of sneakers with a union that brought Nike sales back to life. Nike, a struggling sneaker company back in 1984, just had struck gold! Now in 2012, Lebron James sneakers are having the same effect on the pop culture, as did Nike Air Jordan Basketball sneakers when they touched down.
James was selected the number one pick in the 2003 NBA Draft and already has a line of sneakers in bright and vibrant colors sky rocketing in sales. The Jordan trademark symbol was a jump man that would be on every sneaker, in a different place. It became popular and people thrived off of sales in necklaces, belt buckles and headbands flashing the jump man symbol. James took a different approach with his sneakers by making them bright and a different style, however it seems as if James has a trademark jump man symbol on his sneakers too.
Is this by coincidence, did Nike have something to do with it, or is James trying to simply follow in great foot steps? Nike Air Jordan has been around for 25 years now, Lebrons for less than 10 years. Only time will tell if will reach the legendary status like Nike Air Jordan.
